Timber

Timber has been used in flooring for centuries. Its natural warmth and character are timeless. Timber suits every decorating style and will withstand fashion trends.

There are many different species of timber available today, and you're sure to find one that appeals to your own sense of style.

Timber is a good flooring option for people with allergy and respiratory problems, as it is naturally non-allergenic.

Because of its widespread popularity and versatile appearance, timber flooring can also be a great investment, adding resale value to your home.

Timber is available in a variety of products as follows.

Solid Timber

As the name suggests, solid timber comprises only timber and nothing else. Typically, solid timber planks are 12mm or 19mm thick; the former for installation directly to concrete, and the latter for installation over battens.

Solid timber is also available as block parquetry flooring. Creative patterns can be achieved using parquetry, such as herringbone, basket weave, or brickbond. Parquetry is usually either 14mm or 19mm thick.

Once the solid timber has been installed, it requires sanding and finishing on site. This process requires the timber to be sanded and sealed numerous times to achieve the beautiful end result.

One of the greatest benefits of solid timber is that it can be re-sanded and finished many times over the years, if required due to wear and tear.

Floating Timber Floor

If you like the look of timber flooring, but don't want the expense of a solid timber floor, then floating timber floor is a great option.

Floating timber floor is pre-finished at the factory. That is, it is already sanded and finished and only requires installation on site.

Floating Timber Floor is constructed by adhering a surface of timber, usually around 3mm thick, to an MDF base. The overall thickness of the floor will be approximately 7mm to 14 mm, depending on the thickness of the MDF used by the manufacturer.

Timber Veneer

Like Floating Timber floors in their structure, timber veneer floors have a thinner layer of timber adhered to a base of MDF.
